ACRYLIC NAILS VS GEL NAILS: WHICH IS DIFFERENCE FOR YOU?

Mar 23,2024 | bqan beautys

When you first delve into nails at an Nail Shop , you will notice that there are many different options. For example, you have to make a choice between gel nails and acrylic nails. For this it is important to know the exact differences between the different types of artificial nails.

Where do these nails come from?

At the end of the 1970s, acrylic nails were first discovered. Before this time, artificial nails and nail styling were only for the wealthier among us. This image originated in ancient Egypt at the time. The acrylic nails ensure that everyone could have beautiful nails. Then came the gel nails in the 90s. These shapes have become very popular in today’s nail salons.

What exactly are acrylic nails?

To be able to place acrylic nails, acrylic liquid or liquid monomer is mixed with acrylic powder. This provides the basis to build a beautiful nail. The nails are then cured in the air. For the nail stylist, however, this means that action must be taken quickly in order to place the nail nicely on the natural nail.

What Are Gel Nails?

Gel nails are made from a different substance, namely polymeric resin. The application of these nails is done in three different phases. The nail is cured using UV light. The good thing about this is that you have more time to place the nail. Initially, a base layer is always applied, which is cured with UV and then nail polish is applied. Finally, a top coat is applied.

Allergic reaction to artificial nails?

What is important to know about artificial nails is that they can also cause an allergic reaction. This is then caused by acrylics in the artificial nails and can manifest itself in itching, redness and blisters. This does not mean that it only applies to acrylic nails, because acrylic is also processed in gel nails.
